This day started out a little traumatic for me. Ben sent me and Paije to the metro office to purchase a monthly train ticket. After sitting there for over an hour I started to panic that the person at the counter wouldn't understand me and would send me to the back of the line. I started repeating in my mind, "Parlez-vous anglais?" "Je ne parle pas francais." Thankfully when I finally got the counter things went fine expect for when I made a fool out of myself trying to use our debit card.
In the afternoon, when my courage was somewhat restored, Paije and I walked to the local grocery store. Obviously everything there is in French, which is proving to make things a little interesting. Take for example this photo. Prior to cooking, this meat looked like bacon. However, when I started to cook it I quickly realized that, although of a pork variety, this meat was anything but bacon. It tasted nasty and as you can see it still had hair on it. Gross.
When Ben got off work we rode the metro to a really cool Christmas market. I guess they have these all over Europe during Christmas. This one was totally cool and was full of interesting shops and the most amazing looking food! Here I am eating my very first Belgian waffle.
Ben carried Paije underneath his coat while we walked around. Paije loves her carrier. It instantly puts her right to sleep.
Resting together after a long day!

Fun! Looks like you're doing well over there. I'm glad! Keep posting!
I'm glad Paije doesn't get that 5 o'clock shadow on her chin! She is so cute! Enjoy your Brussells adventures!!
YAY! I love these updates! Keep them coming - OH how I miss Europe!!
Oh, Bonnie! I really wish we could see you guys. Chris is really being a bum about coming a day early. I am super sad. Don't you just love the Wienachten Marks? It is so fun. They are all over Berlin. We have really been enjoying them. You look like you are having a great time being a mommy. The funny thing was that we just had our first waffle with chocolate too. Yummy!
BELGIUM!!! What a fantastic place :) Gobble up the patiseries, you're only there once, maybe...
Hilarious about your 2 year old plane buddy- definiteliy ironic, and unfortunate! Keep the posts coming, like what are you going to do all day? If you're still there in March, they have a hilarious holiday where crazy guys dress up in these outfits and march around drumming drums all day and all night, AND they chuck these blood oranges at everyone and everything-- bizarre! I wouldn't believe it, except I was there and experienced it :)
I'm jealous! You guys are going to have some great adventures there...even if no one can understand you. :)
what a cute beanie...let me know when she grows out of it....i can whip up another in a couple of hours.
I see it's still Ben and Paije in the single bed.
What a sweet picture of Ben and
Paije - love it! And oh, I am jealous - both of my girls loved their carrier and it was a lifesaver - I could carry them all over and still have two hands free! But sadly, Edward hates his. Bummer.
